He’s always been private, he’s never really talked about his personal life in depth to any of his companions, except to Donna and only when Jenny appeared. He avoids talking about his children, grandchildren, wives… I think it hurts him too much. And it protects them at the same time. Or at least River who is the only one really in the red zone if anyone wanted to get to him.

With that said, no one expept his very close, trusted friends, who took care of him during the fall of the ponds, seem to knnow who she is.

Clara, though wonderful, is not exactly trusted, YET. The Doctor still doesn’t know who she is or why she came to be.
